Located in northern Pingtung County, Gaoshu Township is mostly an alluvial plain of Ailiao River, Laonong River, and Zhuokou River, except for the Dawu Mountain Highland in the southeast. It borders Sandimen Township in the east, Yanpu Township and Ligang Township in the south, Meinong District of Kaohsiung in the west, and Liugui District and Maolin District in the north.


The climate is tropical with abundant rainfall. Gaoshu Township has beautiful scenery and is a water source protection region. The unpolluted water is used for irrigation to yield high quality pineapples, dates, taros, papayas, lemons, wax apples, lychees, guavas, and rice.

Although its scale is not as large as that of hyper markets, Gaoshu Farmers’ Association Supermarket features agricultural products from all over the island and fresh produce from local farmers.
